Successful blow-outs without damage: Esther's routine

Keeping my frizzy hair stretched is one of my tips for reducing the knots in my afro as much as possible. The fastest way to go from "shrink" to straight hair for me is probably blow-out (brushing) but it does not come without risks.

Here is my routine to succeed in my blow outs without suffering any breakage or damage due to the heat.

Step 1: wash my hair

I wash my hair with a moisturizing shampoo to reduce the risk of dryness in my hair as much as possible. Moisturizing shampoo is a great choice!

Step 2: revitalize my hair

In the same way, I use a rehydrating and nourishing conditioner to soften my hair as much as possible. Otherwise I can also apply a moisturizing mask (but I often prefer to keep the mask for the week after my blow-out). For this reason, I love Intense Hydration Conditioner.

Step 3: moisturize my hair

After the shower, I rehydrate my hair with moisturizing hair milk. These first 3 steps are the basis of my hair routine, blow out or not. And during these three steps, I kept my hair twisted and detangled to make styling as easy as possible.

Step 4: protect my hair

The next, crucial step to using heat without getting breakage is to coat my hair in 3-in-1 hair oil , a super heat-protecting serum. This serum is formulated with oils with a high smoke point, so there is little chance of burning my hair. They remain soft and malleable after my blow-out.

Step 5: stretch my hair

I gently pass my hot brush or my hair dryer over the lengths of my hair and I insist on the ends to remove the knots.

From there, the hair is stretched and ready to be styled however you want. My favorite hairstyle is to do a simple twist-out, how about you?

During the week, I don't apply moisturizer, unless I have to do my hair again. As I try to manipulate my hair as little as possible, the urge to redo a hairstyle before the next shampoo very rarely happens to me.

Frequently asked questions about the blow-out

  1. How often do you blow out? No more than once a month.
  2. What intensity do you put the brush? At the highest intensity because my hair is in great condition.
  3. How many times do you go over each strand? About 4-5 times, because I have very dense hair.
  4. Have you ever suffered damage? No, not since I've been using the serum and keeping my hair as conditioned as possible.
